Chat Service
Oasiz-created chat rooms are created and maintained by Oasiz.
Most Oasiz-created chat rooms are persistent and public - that is, they exist even when no-one is in them and are available for anyone to join.
Often, Oasiz chats are monitored chats with Oasiz hosts participating in the chat room.
User-created chat rooms are created directly by our members.
They can be either public rooms listed in our category lists or private, unlisted rooms for the exclusive use of the creator and their friends or relatives.
Apart from persistent user-created rooms (subscription only), all user-created rooms are dynamic, meaning they exist only as long as at least one person is in them. When the last person leaves a user-created chat, the chat room no longer exists.
The creator of the chat room is responsible for the behaviour of the participants in the chat room.
There are several things you can do if someone in a chat is annoying or harassing you, or otherwise making your chat experience unpleasant:
- Use the Ignore feature by right clicking on the users name and selecting "Ignore". When you ignore someone, the messages they send will not appear in your conversation pane, nor will that person be able to "whisper" to you.
- Ask the chat host to kick the person out of the chat. You can either send your request for all to see or "whisper" it to the host directly.
- Should both of the above solutions fail, contact the Chat Manager and report the offender. Before reporting an offense, ensure all evidence/documentation (screenshots/chat-logs etc) is readily available as this may be requested by the chat Guide. Note: Oasiz-created chats only (more information).
There are two reasons why you could be banned from our chat service:
- You have violated our Terms of Use. Bans usually last no longer than 7 days unless a serious violation has occurred which may result in a permanent ban.
- A user with the same (or very similar) IP address/hostmask has been banned from our service which unfortunately has affected you. Should this be the case, please contact chat.manager@oasiz.net.
To have a persistent channel on our chat service:
- Ensure you have a valid VIP Membership.
- Create your chat room (you must be the founder of the chat room in order to make it persistent).
- When inside your chat room (with Owner status) type "/manage" (no quotes) to bring up the Channel Management panel.
- Navigate to the "Advanced" tab and tick the "+P Persistent" option.
- Click "Save".
